| Abstract |
Different cracks are a serious threat to mechanical structures. To prevent unexpected and
irreparable damage caused by the crack creation and growth, the study and evaluation of crack behavior in different conditions is very important and necessary. In this study, the various researches regarding different cracks and crack growth in varied structures and materials subjected to several loads that
were analyzed by commonly used methods from the fracture mechanics point of view were reviewed.
The purpose is to collect recent researches and findings concerning the crack problems and evaluate,
categorize, and summarize them to access an integrated collection of the wide researches conducted
on the crack problems and fatigue life investigation. Also, indicate the remaining challenges in this
field and determine new fields and routes of further researches and state-of-the-art investigations.
First, the available literature for studies on different cracks is overviewed. Then, the remaining challenges and the insufficiencies in researches in the available literature from different points of view are
discussed. According to these discussions, various further research topics that are predicted to be of
considerable value for both practitioners and academics were recognized. |
