Abstract The article poses and solves the problem on time-optimal control of the quasi-static acceleration or deceleration of a massive flywheel by taking into account the strength properties of the material. The dependence of optimal regimes on parameters is investigated and features of optimal regimes are revealed. For disk and long cylindrical flywheels, universal optimal modes of acceleration or deceleration that can be used in the design or operation of inertial energy storage devices are built.
Keywords massive flywheel, inertial energy storage, elastic limit, time-optimal control, classical and mixed control modes
