Abstract Exact solution of the axisymmetric wave propagation problem in the functionally graded transversely isotropic cylinder with axial polarization is derived in Bessel functions and algorithmic form which is simple to program for numerical simulations. The spectral diagrams of the travelling and evanescent wave propagation are plotted for cylinders which are made in the form of concentric layers from PZT-4, PZT-5H and PZT-7A piezoceramics. The qualitative and quantitative peculiarities of the travelling and evanescent waves are discussed for different structural composition of the functionally graded structures and for open- and close-ciruit regimes of electric boundary conditions.
Keywords piezoelectric functionally graded material, axisymmetric wave propagation in cylinder, electric and mechanical boundary conditions, exact solution, spectral diagrams, dispersion curves
