Title Calculation of the Growth/Wear Kinetics of a Solid Lubricant Film in a Thrust Plain Bearing
Author(s) Soldatenkov I.A. (Ishlinsky Institute for Problems in Mechanics, Russian Academy of Sciences, Moscow, 119526 Russia, iasoldat@hotmail.com)
Abstract A model of growth and simultaneous wear of a solid lubricant film on the surface of a composite coating of a thrust plain bearing is described. Equations for the kinetics of changes in the thickness of the solid lubricant film are obtained. The results of the numerical solution of these equations are presented. The effects of the thrust collar shape and bearing load are described. Estimates of the durability of the solid lubricant film are given according to the wear criterion.
