Abstract |
A spatial construction, which looks like a bellows (or sylphon), composed of flat shells in the form of a regular truncated cone and circular plates hinged inside the bases of the cones, is proposed. The material of shells and plates is elastically orthotropic with radial and tangential isotropic axes. The structure is subjected to longitudinal axial compression, which creates an axisymmetric plane stress state in all structural elements. As a result of solving the problems of the theory of elasticity via quadratures for these structural elements, the limiting value of the external compressive force, until the action of which the bellows maintains a stable equilibrium, is calculated and a formula for a correctly substantiated calculation of its stress-strain state is derived. A distinctive feature of the considered design is the absence of torsion, bending, and eccentric normal force in the cross section of any of its elements. |
