Abstract |
The article presents the results of a computational and experimental study on the impact interaction of structured punches corresponding to the design of Russian and foreign small arms ammunition with homogeneous steel and composite armor. Particular attention has been paid to the careful modeling of the behavior of the materials of the punch and the plate under dynamic loading.
To confirm the reliability of the calculation models used, tests have been carried out by firing at real protection samples, the results of which have shown a good agreement with the data of numerical experiments.
The developed models allow to offer effective protection at the design stage, as well as to assess the armor protection level of existing foreign samples. The calculations have been carried out using the LS-DYNA software package. |
