Title Drift of an imperfect hemispherical resonator gyro
Author(s) V. Ph. Zhuravlev (Moscow)
Abstract The influence of basic manufacturing mechanical defects of a hemispherical resonator gyro (HRG) on its accuracy is studied. The defects under consideration cover the inhomogeneity of the material, nonuniformity of elastic properties, variability of the resonator thickness, and the deviation of the resonator shape from a hemisphere. It is shown that in all these cases the drift of the gyro is proportional to the product of the relative magnitude of the defect by the quadrature. The relation of the drift to the defects of the electric circuit has been previously established in [1]. The influence of the drift by control algorithm errors is considered in [2, 3].
