Abstract |
The statement and solution technique are presented for the problem of optimization of the process of creation of the residual stresses to provide the optimal strength of the structure when operated. As an example, an analytical solution is given for the problem of the optimization of parameters of the shot-jet processing of the surface of a workpiece.
The search for the workpiece processing parameters to
provide a distribution of the residual stresses that would be optimal for the operation involves two coupled optimization problems to be solved-
the problem of optimal design of the structure and the processing optimization problem. The latter problem requires determining the processing parameters to create a prescribed distribution of residual stresses. To solve such a problem, it is necessary to know the residual stresses that are most favorable for improving the operating characteristics of the structure (e.g., increasing its strength), since the residual stresses are added to the stresses due to external loads. The determination of such residual stresses is an optimization problem.
The general statement of simultaneous problems of optimal design of a structure and optimal control of its manufacturing, as well as techniques for solving such problems, have been presented in [1, 2] for a number of thermomechanical treatment processes. Such problems are referred to as bioptimization problems.
In the present paper, we consider the mathematical statement of the problem of surface processing of a workpiece so as to provide the workpiece with optimal strength when operated. An analytical solution of this problem is given. |
