Title The determination of the surface unbalance parameters of a hemispherical resonator gyro on the basis of its response to the angular vibration

Abstract The influence of the nonuniform mass distribution on the motion of a hemispherical resonator gyro was studied in [1] with the assumption that all mass defects (unbalances) were located on the edge of the resonator and arbitrarily distributed along the edge. It was shown that all unbalance parameters can be identified on the basis of the response of the wave excited in the resonator to the linear vibration of the base. The influence of the mass defects distributed over the entire surface of the resonator was investigated in [2]. The surface unbalance was shown to be unable to be completely compensated for by balancing the edge. The surface unbalance needs more independent parameters to be identified as compared with the edge unbalance. In the present paper, we analyze the behavior of the resonator in the case of angular vibration of the base for an arbitrary distribution of the defects over the resonator surface. It is shown that all additional unbalance parameters can be identified on the basis of the response of the wave to the angular vibration.
