Abstract Mathematical models of aeroelasticity of a wing that take into account nonlinearities of the aerodynamic characteristics are considered. A mathematical statement of the problem is given. A technique for constructing mathematical models on the basis of discrete vortex and prescribed natural shape methods is described. Example problems are solved for an airfoil and a thin beam wing. The concepts of static and dynamic aeroelastic stability are extended to nonlinear systems. The influence of nonlinearity and flow separation on the flutter and divergence critical velocities are shown. Numerical results are presented.
