| Abstract |
We consider plane and axisymmetric problems of uncoupled thermoelasticity
for constant speed motion of an extended thermal-force source in an unbounded elastic
medium. In contrast to the classical heat equation, which is of parabolic type,
we use the heat equation with a finite speed of heat-flux propagation, i.e., equation
of hyperbolic type. It is assumed that the speed of the source is
much higher than both the speed of sound in the elastic medium and
the speed of heat-flux propagation. Expressions for the temperature and the
elastic displacements are obtained in closed form. |
