Abstract We study analytical solutions of a 3D porosity-elasticity problem for the perturbed stress state of a saturated reservoir near a well. The behavior of the medium is described in terms of Biot's theory. Perturbations are transmitted to the reservoir through a finite well interval either in the form of a radial load applied to the solid matrix or in the form of a fluid withdrawal with an arbitrary rate. Volume and shear stresses are calculated for the parameters corresponding to real geological conditions. Calculation results are compared with solutions of the problem of elasticity in a half-space and with the traditional solution of the problem of fluid withdrawal through a single well. It is shown that taking into account the nonlocal deformation of a saturated medium near a perturbing well may considerably affect the evaluation of seepage parameters.
