Abstract Standard differential equations governing the desired dynamics of controlled attitude motion of a rigid body are considered. Three groups of control laws are synthesized using quaternion and vector kinematic parameters of rotational motion. The construction of the nominal angular motion and the nominal control, as well as the determination of feedback gains (scalar, matrix, and quaternion) providing the desired qualitative and quantitative characteristics of the transients, are discussed. A number of control algorithms are proposed.
