Title Controlled damping of self-excited frictional vibrations in a two-mass system with relative slip of the bodies
Author(s) M. Ya. Izrailovich (Moscow)
Abstract A feedback control is constructed to reduce the amplitude of self-excited vibrations caused by the interaction of two bodies sliding along one another. One of these bodies is attached to a fixed base by an elastic spring. The other body has a spring attached to this body by one of its ends, while the other end is subjected to a kinematical excitation mastering the desired motion of the body. The solution is obtained on the basis of a procedure involving harmonic linearization of the nonlinear self-vibratory characteristic with separation of the motion into the fast and slow components and variational methods. The fast component corresponds to self-vibratory motions, while the slow one is due to the external kinematic excitation. The solution is expressed in closed form.
