Title Experimental and theoretical study of the effect of constant and variable electric fields on moist soil penetration by a conductive solid indentor

Abstract We consider the problem of moist soil penetration by a thin solid indentor in the presence of constant or oscillating electromagnetic fields. Experimental and theoretical confirmation is given to the fact that for an optimal choice of the phase difference between the vibrations of the indentor and oscillations of the electric field applied to the medium, the penetration velocity substantially increases. The cases of axial and radial fields are considered.
