Abstract |
A theoretical justification of the method of thermal splitting by laser
beams was given in [1-4] and elsewhere. The general scheme of
the method involves (i) the determination of the thermal field on the
surface of the body exposed to laser heat flow and (ii) the determination
of optimal parameters of thermal splitting by laser beams (for example,
the distance from the boundary of the laser spot to the cooling
front, etc.)on the basis of the condition that the temperature gradient
should exceed the thermal resistance of the material.
In the present paper, we propose an approach for calculating
the parameters of thermal splitting by laser beams on the basis of
certain criteria specified by
equations of brittle fracture mechanics. For this purpose, in addition to
the nonstationary distribution of temperature, we determine the
quasistatic thermal stress state of a
semi-bounded body heated over a circular
region of its boundary by a heat flow with the normal (Gaussian)
distribution. |
