Abstract The present study is devoted to a comprehensive analysis of the design of premium threaded connection in order to determine the creep impact on sealing properties under extreme operating conditions with high temperature (SAGD, CSS, etc.). The design of threaded connection of own development OMK VEGA was chosen as the object of research. The creep effect was simulated by using the Maxwell-Wiechert viscoelastic model that provides to contact pressure relaxation in the metal-to-metal seal. Particular attention was paid to the application of a methodology for assessing sealability based on a set of specific criteria. A comparative analysis of various types of loads with time exposure was carried out at the initial stage of the study. The loading was imposed according to the fluid pressure penetration method. This made it possible to identify the most critical loading modes leading to the maximum relaxation of contact pressure in the sealing zone during a specified time interval. A comparative analysis was also carried out for sequential loading for two different models. The first one is a viscoelastic model with time exposure and the second one is elastic. The obtained results allow us to predict changes in the sealing properties of premium threaded connections under conditions of longterm exposure to operational loads and elevated temperatures.
