Abstract Variations in crushing load can influence the operational stability, wear of kinematic pairs, and movement trajectory of the movable jaw in compound pendulum jaw crushers considering bearing clearance. The traditional dynamic model only considered factors such as bearing clearance and fixed load, while ignores the effects of changes in counterweight, flywheel, tie-rod spring and crushing load on the compound pendulum jaw crusher, which leads to a decrease in the accuracy of the dynamic analysis of the compound pendulum jaw crusher taking into account the bearing clearance. The dynamic model of the crusher with bearing clearance is established by the Lagrange method to study the bearing clearance, the change of crushing load and the influence of different eccentric shaft speeds on the compound pendulum jaw crusher. The results show that: when the compound pendulum jaw crusher crushes soft rock, the higher eccentric shaft speed of 39 to 45 rad/s should be selected; when crushing medium-hard rock or very hard rock, the lower eccentric shaft speed of 30 rad/s can be selected, that is, with the increase in hardness of the ore, the speed of the selected eccentric shaft decreases sequentially.
