Abstract |
A mathematical model for the nonisothermal elastoviscoplastic strain in flexible shallow shells with multidirectional reinforcing structures is developed. The wave processes and weak resistance with respect to transverse shear in curved panels are simulated in terms of Ambartsumian's bending theory. The geometric nonlinearity of the problem is taken into account with the use of the Karman approximation. The components of the composite are assumed to represent isotropic materials, whereas their plasticity can be described by the flow theory with a loading function depending on the strain rate and temperature. A coupled character of the thermomechanical problem under dynamic loading of composite shallow shells is taken into account. In the transverse direction of the structures, the temperature is approximated by a seventh-order polynomial. The formulated two-dimensional nonlinear initial-boundary value problem is solved using an explicit numerical calculation scheme of time steps. The thermoelastoviscoplastic and thermoelastoplastic behavior of fiberglass and metal-composite shallow shells orthogonally reinforced in two tangential directions, loaded in the transverse direction by an air blast wave, is studied. It is shown that flexible curved fiberglass panels at certain points can additionally exhibit heating by 14–27°C, whereas similar metal-composite structures can additionally exhibit heating by 70°C or more. In this case, the peak temperature values remain within short-term ranges, on the order of several fractions of a millisecond. It is demonstrated that, unlike flexible plates, similar shallow shells (with the same reinforcement structure and the same characteristic dimensions) under dynamic loading in the transverse direction should be calculated not only taking into account the plastic properties of the composite components depending on the strain rate, but also taking into account the thermal responses in such thin-walled structures. A more intense inelastic deformation of curved composite panels is observed when they are loaded on the side of the convex frontal surface. |
