Abstract The solution to the internal and external Lamb problems originating from a concentrated force applied to the free boundary of an elastic half-space (half-plane) is analyzed. Some related problems are considered as well, in particular, the problem of application of doublets and dipoles in an elastic half-space, the appearance of high-frequency waves corresponding to a Rayleigh wave during Pochhammer–Cree wave propagation, etc. The solutions to problems of a moving load applied to the boundary of a half-space or a half-plane are analyzed.
Keywords Lamb problem, body wave, Rayleigh wave, half-space, half-plane
