Abstract Two periodic contact problems with unknown contact domains on an infinite rectilinear chain of identical rigid punches on an elastic half-space are considered. A part of the half-space surface in the form of a half-plane is in the conditions of a sliding or rigid support, which makes it possible to obtain correct integral equations for the contact pressure. Coulomb friction forces are taken into account in the direction perpendicular to the boundary of the fixed half-plane. To solve problems, the method of nonlinear integral equations is used, which makes it possible to simultaneously determine the contact domain and contact pressures. The mechanical characteristics are calculated, the passage from a discrete to a continuous contact zone of infinite length is studied.
