Title Block-Layer Approach for the Analysis of the Stress–Strain State of Three-Layer Irregular Cylindrical Shells of Rotation
Author(s) V.N. Bakulin (Institute of Applied Mechanics, Russian Academy of Sciences, Moscow, 125040 Russia, vbak@yandex.ru)
Abstract The article describes the construction of a model for the layer-by-layer analysis of the stress–strain state (SSS) of irregular sandwich cylindrical shells of rotation, which consists in the fact that, if necessary, the shell wall, including the filler, is divided by thickness into separate layers, which are then joined together and combined into blocks. The model makes it possible to take into account the change in the geometric, physical and mechanical characteristics and parameters of the stress-strain state not only along the meridional and circumferential coordinates, but also along the thickness of the shell and the filler layer, to adequately model the features of the layered-inhomogeneous structure, and also to take into account the discontinuity of the layers, the moment state of the bearing layers, the three-dimensional stress–strain state in the filler, various conditions of fixing and loading of the layers. As a rule, it is not possible to carry out such a layer-by-layer analysis for most real structures by analytical methods due to mathematical difficulties. The block-layer-by-layer finite-element approach is applied. Models of layer-by-layer analysis are distinguished by a large dimension, to reduce which it is proposed to use effective functions of approximation of deformations and displacements within finite elements.
Keywords block-layer-by-layer analysis, stress and strain state, irregular cylindrical sandwich shells of revolution, effective approximations, approximating functions of generalized deformations and dis- placements, finite element models
