Abstract In this paper, a mathematical model is constructed to describe the propagation of Love waves in layered anisotropic (monoclinic) media. The modified transfer matrix method (TM method) is developed to construct the solution. Closed-form dispersion relations are obtained for media consisting of one and of two elastically anisotropic layers in contact with an anisotropic half-space. The conditions of existence of the Love waves are analyzed. The waves with horizontal transverse polarization of noncanonical type are studied.
