Abstract |
A multimode kinetic model for the development of damage under cyclic loading is proposed
to describe the development of fatigue failure process. To determine the coefficients of the kinetic
damage equation, the well-known Smith–Watson–Topper (SWT) criterion of multiaxial fatigue fracture is used. On this basis, a procedure for calculating the kinetic equation coefficients for various
modes of fatigue failure from low-cycle to very-high-cycle fatigue is proposed. A uniform numerical
method is developed and examples of calculating the development of crack-like zones of damage and
fatigue fracture of samples containing various defects for different cyclic loading modes are presented. |
