Abstract |
A linear mechanical system is considered in which there is no complete dissipation (in particular, there is antidissipation for some of the variables). The effect of the stiffness added in one of the
generalized coordinates on the stability of equilibrium is studied. It is shown that, in particular, such
additional stiffness may lead to a loss of stability. As an example, the stability of a trivial equilibrium
position of a double aerodynamic pendulum with a spiral spring installed on the first link is analyzed. |
