Abstract We consider the problem of motion on a horizontal plane with friction of an ellipsoid of revolution, the center of mass of which coincides with the geometric center, and the axis of rotation is the axis of dynamic symmetry.Under a certain class of initial conditions, a qualitative analysis of the dynamics is given. A geometric interpretation of the results and the results of numerical experiments are presented.
Keywords friction, stationary motion, ellipsoid of revolution
