Title Load-Carrying Capacity of Thin-Walled Shells with Local Imperfections
Author(s) V.I. Mamai (Institute of Mechanics, Lomonosov Moscow State University, Michurinskii pr-t 1, Moscow, 119192 Russia, mamai@imec.msu.ru)
Abstract The load-carrying capacity of axially compressed thin-walled shells of revolution with a circular cut is studied. The problem is solved by using the numerical version of an experimental-theoretical method. The numerical experiment is performed by using the finite-element software ANSYS/LS-DYNA 11.0. The size effect of a circular cut on the load-carrying capacity of a compressed cylindrical shell is investigated.
Keywords load-carrying capacity, thin-walled shells, experimental-theoretical method, numerical experiment
