Title Action of aerohydrodynamic forces on high-speed rotor systems

Abstract We study specific features of the dynamics of high-speed rotor systems with floating sealing rings in view of the aerohydrodynamic forces acting in the clearances. We find properties of the "rotor-floating ring" system such as the possible absence of the critical rotor speed and the dynamic vibration damping depending on the conditions of contact between the ring and the housing; we also take into account the possible boiling of the layer in the clearance. We find a quasistable operation mode due to dry friction on the ring. For this operation mode, we obtain analytic laws of motion of the rotor and the sealing ring by the curve fitting method.
