| Abstract |
The influence of an additional external load on the process of adhesive
indentation of a smooth punch into an elastic half-plane is analyzed. The
additional load is modelled by a point force represented as a result of the
action of an auxiliary punch with a flat base as the size of the contact region
tends to zero. Such a representation of a point force corresponds to the
familiar approach of [1] to studying such forces and enables one to avoid using
the generalized function concept. The issue of the influence of an additional
external load on the indentation of a punch into an elastic half-space in the
absence of friction has been considered in [3]. |
