Title A method for the analysis of two-layer shells in the absence of direct contact between the layers
Author(s) F. S. Khairullin (Naberezhnye Chelny)
Abstract In sandwich shells, the stiffness of the core is usually much lower than the stiffness of the face layers. Quite often the core is so soft that it virtually does not transmit the loads from one face layer to another. In this case, beam stiffeners can be used to join the face layers. If the distances between the beams are large enough, such structures cannot be treated as usual sandwich shells. In the analysis of such structures, the shell and beam elements should be considered together, and each face layer should be considered as a separate shell.

Problems of this type also arise in the analysis of the stress-strain state of framed structures covered by panels on both sides.
