Abstract |
We suggest a method for measuring structural damage accumulated in metals
during a high-temperature creep process in uniaxial extension. The method
is based on the simultaneous measurement of longitudinal strains and
electrical resistances in specimens and the comparison of these
experimental data. Unlike other methods, it permits one to measure the
damage during creep tests without unloading and cooling the specimens. Test
data processing by this method provided experimental curves of accumulated
material damage against time. The analysis of these curves permits one to
conclude that the material damage at rupture is a monotone decreasing
function of the stress. The same result was obtained when measuring metal
damage by the metallographic method. We give an interpretation of the
result. Using a modified Broberg approach, we carry out mathematical
modeling of experimental data and obtain a correspondence between the
experimental and theoretical curves of creep strain and damage against
time. |
