Title Perturbation torques in a floated gyro with an elastic housing on a vibrating base

Abstract The influence of the elastic flexibility of the float housing on the vibration-induced perturbation torque in a gyro with a cylindrical floated suspension was investigated in [1]. It has been shown that, in the case when the float housing is sufficiently thick and the housing material has small density and large Young's modulus, the effect of the elastic flexibility can be neglected and the float housing can be assumed to be rigid. In the case of the collet attachment of the gyroscope to provide heat abstraction, the housing represents an elastic cylindrical shell.

The error of a floated gyro with a flexible housing on a vibrating base is investigated in the case of free flow of the fluid through the end surfaces. It is established that in the case of translational vibration for a gyro with a cylindrical floated suspension of the rotor, the flexibility of the housing substantially influences the hydrodynamic perturbation torque.
