Abstract A method for predicting long-term strength for chromium-nickel austenitic steels on the basis of the data of short-term tests is proposed. The experimental data to be processed involve the values of the failure time, as well as the creep diagrams for various applied stress levels. The method proposed is illustrated by the results of creep and long-term stress tests of the chromium-nickel austenitic steel 10Kh15N27T3MR (EP700) at a temperature of 600°C.
