| Abstract |
In the 2D, axisymmetric, and 3D settings, we study the stability problem
for an infinite plate under longitudinal compressive forces and in
two-sided contact with an elastic incompressible half-space prestressed by
gravity. We consider the following two cases of two-sided contact between
the plate and the surface of the half-space: full adhesion and frictionless
slip. The results can be used in performance analysis of coated bodies and
layered composites as well as in problems of geophysics.
Earlier, the stability problem for an infinite plate in longitudinal
compression and cylindrical bending in two-sided contact with an elastic
base was studied in [1] (the Fuss-Winkler base) and [2] (a compressible
elastic layer fixed along the base). |
