Abstract A spatial contact problem of elasticity theory for a system of two bodies being in sliding contact is considered with the heat release being taken into account.

The problem is reduced to a two-dimensional integral equation of the first kind. The solution of this equation is obtained in the case of an elliptic contact area. As a result, a formula for the contact pressure is obtained, with the heat release being taken into account. In addition, the problem of determining the size of the contact patch is considered. In solving contact problems, the heat release was taken into account in [1-3].
