Title Stress state of an array of elastic plates joined along a periodic system of curves

Abstract We consider a system of n thin elastic infinite plates placed one on top of another and joined along a periodic system of open Lyapunov curves. The elastic properties of the plates and their thickness may be different, in general. The plates are stretched by forces applied at infinity, and for y→+∞ and y→−∞ these forces may be different.

By the integral equation method, the problem for an array of n plates joined together is reduced to (n−1) separate periodic problems. A linear relation is established between the stresses and the stress intensity factors in the joined plates forming an array and the stresses and the stress intensity factors in other separate plates with thin rigid line inclusions along the lines of juncture of the original plates forming an array. The new plates are in no way connected to each other. Their elastic parameters and the loads applied to them at y→±∞ are expressed by linear relations through the elastic parameters of the original plates and the forces applied to them at infinity. We also consider some relevant examples.

Plates joined along a periodic system of parallel segments were studied in [1, 2] and plates joined along finitely many Lyapunov curves were considered in [3, 2].
