Title Buckling analysis of a shell with transverse shear
Author(s) V. M. Belubekyan (Erevan)
Abstract In most cases, taking into account transverse shear strains in the problems of buckling of isotropic plates leads to results which differ from those of the Kirchhoff theory of plates by a value whose order of magnitude is equal to that of the squared relative thickness of the plate [1]. This correction value can, however, be more significant for certain boundary conditions at the edges of a plate. The equations of buckling of a plate are presented on the basis of a version of the refined first-order theory suggested in [2]. The contribution of three natural boundary conditions is discussed on the basis of an example of localized buckling near the free edge of a plate.
