Title Strength of joints of compound plates
Author(s) M. A. Zadoyan (Erevan)
Abstract We analyze the stress state on the edge of contact surfaces of compound plates made of materials subject to power law hardening, with transverse shear taken into account. We find a family of limit surfaces of finite moments (stresses) separating stress-free regions from those of strong stress concentration.

The formulas obtained for moments and shear forces, with transverse shear and material hardening taken into account, are compared with similar expressions obtained in the classical theory of bending of plates. It is shown that the degree of stress concentration is the same, but the shear forces in the neighborhood under consideration remain bounded and tend to zero at corner points, in contrast to the classical theory (valid for linearly elastic materials).
