Title Design of cantilever elements of safety valves subject to plastic deformation
Author(s) A. E. Andreev-Andrievskii (Moscow)
Abstract We consider problems of analytical and numerical design of cantilever elements supporting the piston of a one-time safety valve. Computations of plastic bending are based on the power law approximation of the deformation curve. Shape variation for large displacements is taken into account.

The analytical approach is based on the model of a rigid cantilever with hardening plastic joint at the plane of clamping. For numerical calculations, the cantilever axis is partitioned into finite segments, the loads are prescribed by small displacement increments, and the Hooke-Geeves direct optimization method is used for finding the corresponding force as an argument of the error function which is the difference between the given and the calculated displacements.

The force characteristic of the loading process has a maximum. The calculated and the experimental values of the maximal tension of the force characteristic are in good agreement.
