Title Theory of stability for three-layer plates and shells: stages of development, state-of-the-art, and prospects
Author(s) V. N. Paimushin (Kazan)
Abstract Basic stages in the development of the theory of stability of three-layer plates and shells are examined with regard to specific properties of their subcritical behavior and buckling, the mathematical description of these properties, and the construction of the corresponding stability equations. A refined classification of buckling modes is proposed for the structure as a whole, its load-bearing layers, and its filler. The main factors causing different types of buckling are identified. On the basis of solutions of particular problems, the conclusions made in the article are confirmed and future trends of the investigations are indicated.
